UHHC team member creates wearable honeycomb for AWE show

Upper Hutt Health Centre team member, Ny Brunenberg recently took out the beginners category at the Artistic Wearable Expression (AWE) awards. The awards are run by Create Upper Hutt.

Inspiration

Ny used plastic cable ties, polyester and nylon to create the piece. Her initial inspiration was honeycomb but once she began, the piece took on a life of it’s own. She says “I was inspired by the natural, repetitive shape of the honeycomb produced by bees. In comparison, plastic zip ties represent something man-made, so I wanted to showcase this material in an unexpected and interesting way.”
